Grammar for an Academic Head Start

Novice students use translation as an L2 learning strategy which produces writing in alignment with their L1. Explicit grammar lessons, however, have marginal effect on students' habits of mind. This presentation introduces icons to describe and template English syntax then engages participants in an example activity. Handouts will be provided.
