College/University Workshop: Conceptualizing Composition Courses for Multilingual Students
How have post-secondary institutions (re)crafted their composition courses to best serve their multilingual populations? How did these programs begin, where are they now, and where might they be headed? Which types of conceptual frameworks have been implemented and what have been their effects? Hear from panelists sharing their experiences related to the expansion of course offerings, the use of stretch programs, the transition of departments, and the implementation of service learning. The purpose of this panel is to avail workshop attendees of the range and experience of different campus programs’ efforts in facilitating multilingual students’ acquisition of written academic English. Audience members are also encouraged to ask questions of the panelists.
