Eric H. Roth teaches international graduate students the pleasures and perils of academic writing and public speaking in English at the University of Southern California (USC), and holds the title of “Master Lecturer”. He also writes and edits ESL/EFL books for English language learners with Chimayo Press. He recently co-authored Compelling Conversations - Japan with Shiggy Ichinomiya and Brent Warner (2015) and Compelling American Conversations - Teacher Edition with Robert Glynn and Mark Treston.

A member of the USC faculty since 2003, Roth is a member of numerous professional organizations including: California Association of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CATESOL); the International Communication Association (ICA); the International Professors Project (IPP); Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Publishers Association of Los Angeles (PALA) and Independent Writers of Southern California (IWOSC). Roth has given several CATESOL and TESOL conference presentations, participated in TESOL panels, and led many English teacher training workshops. In 2013, USC promoted Roth to the position of master lecturer in the USC American Language Institute. Roth has also participated in the USC Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship program for several years. In 2015, Roth was selected to join the national selection committee for Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship program in Southeast Asia. Finally, he writes short reflective essays, reviews ESL/EFL related books and apps, and shares teaching tips at CompellingConversations.com/blog and CompellingTalks on Twitter.
