A retired ESL teacher who began when the audio-lingual method was dominant, Lynn is excited that the College and Career Readiness Standards will improve the reading curriculum for adult ESL learners. Lynn is especially interested in literacy for lower level ESL learners who are lack literacy skills in their first language; she trained on strategies for developing first language literacy to teachers in camps for refugees from Burma. A former college composition instructor at Sophia University in Tokyo, she is also looking forward to seeing the impact of the CCRS on how the ESL profession approaches the teaching of writing. teaching of writing.
