Thank you for attending CATESOL 2016 in San Diego!

We appreciate your feedback, which we’ll use in planning 2017 in Santa Clara.

You can view the whole conference schedule by the day and also search for sessions and events by speaker, title, session type, level, and even room! Maps of the Town & Country and the Exhibit Hall are in the menu. You can create and save your personalized conference schedule by creating a free login in sched.org, but you do not need to create a login to use this site! This site - and uploaded materials - will remain available long after the conference.

San Diego Community College District
ESL Professor
San Diego
I have been an ESL professor in the San Diego Community College District for over 30 years. I was an ESL department chair for over 10 years and have taught ESL and VESL classes. I began teaching our District's first Transition to College Class 6 years ago and the class has successfully transitioned many students to both two-year and four-year colleges and universities.
I have a keen interest in how a student's cultural background, experiences, and self-identity influence their learning a second language. Throughout my career, with input from my students, I have developed many engaging instructional materials that have assisted students in developing their own voice and learning how to advocate for themselves and their families.
I embrace and believe in the transformative nature of education and know that students thrive best when we have high standards that also provide support for their educational endeavors.
I am an avid deep sea fisherman and have an appreciation for the outdoors, especially the ocean.
